About 70.4 percent of the 135 degrees and certificates handed out by the Western Seminary in 2016-17 were to students in Theology and Religious Vocations programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Portland conferred 74 master's degrees and 12 certificates in Theology and Religious Vocations programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling. Data shows the school gave out 40 master's degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling, followed by 38 master's degrees in Divinity/Ministry and 32 master's degrees in Theology/Theological Studies.

The seminary enrolled 712 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in 712 programs.
