About 54.2 percent of the 1,871 degrees and certificates handed out by the Chemeketa Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Salem conferred 1015 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 658 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 357 associate's degrees in General Studies and 52 certificates in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Assistant.

The college enrolled 10,797 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
