About 18.8 percent of the 6,283 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Oregon in 2016-17 were to students in Social Sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Eugene conferred 1125 bachelor's degrees and 35 master's degrees in Social Sciences programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Business/Commerce, General. Data shows the school gave out 592 bachelor's degrees in Business/Commerce, General, followed by 424 bachelor's degrees in Social Sciences, General and 371 bachelor's degrees in Psychology, General.

The university enrolled 23,546 students for 2016-17, including 20,049 in undergraduate programs and 3,497 in graduate programs.
