Cost of college went up for all students at Southwestern Oregon Community College

Tuition and fees rose 1.6 percent for 2017-18 at Southwestern Oregon Community College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.


Tuition and fees rose 1.6 percent for 2017-18 at Southwestern Oregon Community College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Oregon students paid $5,942 to attend the two-year public institution this year $95 more than the $5,847 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 385 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.9 million and 198 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.11 million.

Including all undergraduates, 1,154 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.58 million. Another 565 took out $3.04 million in federal student loans.
