In a philanthropic gesture this holiday season, the airline catering facility Flying Food Group (FFG) at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) collaborated with The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. This marked the first time the EWR team participated in the initiative, with the aim of bringing smiles to the faces of children receiving special gifts.

A member of the Flying Food Group team shared their experience with Business Daily, stating, "This year the EWR team came together to join The Salvation Army in Adopt an Angel. We couldn’t be happier to participate and put a smile on the faces of the children who will be receiving their special gift."

Another EWR team member expressed contentment with this year's turnout, saying, "It was a very successful year considering it was our first time participating in this kind of event." They distributed 75 Adopt an Angel tickets from a total of 100 available and contributed over 150 toys for children across different age groups.

The collected gifts were dispatched by the EWR team on Friday, December 15, ensuring timely delivery for Christmas. The initiative targeted a diverse group of children, with recipients ranging from as young as three months old to those up to 14 years of age.

According to The Salvation Army's website, its Angel Tree program facilitates Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children nationwide each year. Once a child or senior adult is registered and accepted as an Angel, their Christmas wish list is made available to donors within the community. These donors then purchase new clothing and toys, and the gifts are then distributed to the family to place under their Christmas tree.

Following a positive experience and significant impact on the community, the EWR team expressed their intention to make Adopt an Angel an integral part of their holiday tradition. According to FFG team members, they are dedicated to maintaining their community engagement initiatives and future collaborations with charitable organizations.

Flying Food Group provides food catering services to several major airlines including Air France, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Swiss Air, and TAP Air Portugal. Operating from 15 different airports across the country with its headquarters in Chicago, FFG continues to positively influence both the airline industry and local communities.
